“Doula support with Christine during COVID for my 2nd baby:  In June 2020 I phoned the office and spoke with Christine for a very long time about my pending birth.  I am a single mother, and she offered me so many options for delivering at a hospital without a partner.  Offering her doula services, (thank GOD Doulas are essential!)  she was there, not in zoom but in person all weekend for the delivery of my beautiful baby.  I felt supported the whole way through. She came over my home, helped me get things settled in my home and with my pup.  Once settled in the hospital she did not leave me alone, talked over important decisions with me and was my rock when things were too tough for me. Breastfeeding was successful because she stayed with me and showed me her 'tips' for moms and their babes. We will forever be bonded and she is my forever angel.”

“Thanks to Chris I was spared a C-Section!  I planned to have a “natural” delivery using hypno-birthing and the least possible intervention and Chris supported me with that. But when intervention was necessary, Chris quickly switched gears, and provided excellent support during a very complicated labor & delivery. I ended up having to be induced because of pre-eclampsia. The labor was very difficult partially due to the use of Pitocin, partially due to back labor, and to top things off the baby was just not ready to come out. Chris was there for me throughout the very long process. She was there to support both me and my family. She provided relief to me through advice, massage, being my advocate with the medical staff, knowing when I should try a new position, etc. When the doctors were prepping for a C-Section, due to the length of time the baby was in the birth canal, my family turned to Chris to see what we could do. Chris knew I had to change the position I was pushing from, and said so. I changed position and 45 minutes later I delivered a healthy happy 8lb 3oz baby boy. Having her support throughout my pregnancy was great. Having her there during my very long delivery was the best decision I madedu
ring my pregnancy planning. I give Chris & Doulas of CNY my highest recommendation. I can’t thank her enough for everything!

“Where to begin...?! Chris's support before, during, and after our second son's birth was truly incredible. She met with us a a few times throughout the pregnancy, answering our questions, giving us encouragement, and helping us to create our birth plan. She gave us invaluable advice when we realized that we needed to switch doctors at 36 weeks. She met at our home when Kristen was still in early labor and gave us both so many wonderful suggestions (and back massages!) to
facilitate Kristen's labor. She accompanied us in our transition to the hospital, ensuring that everything went as peacefully as possible (per Kristen's wishes). And then she helped us achieve something beyond our wildest dreams: a VBAC WATERBIRTH. To top it all off, Chris has been such an inspiration that Kristen has now decided to become a doula! “My husband and I feel truly grateful to have had Chris’ support during the birth of our daughter. Throughout the pregnancy, I felt very apprehensive that this birth would turn out like the birth of my son. I wanted so badly to have a successful VBAC! Chris provided continued support through emails, professional articles, and phone calls to keep me pumped up about the birth! When my due date passed, Chris gave me the courage to follow my heart and delay induction/ make my own choices about the birth. Finally, when my water broke, my labor began following the pattern of my previous birth. I was nervous and scared, but Chris believed in me and helped me to believe in myself. At every point along the way, Chris was right there to advocate for me and to provide info that helped my husband and I to make decisions. Her patience and kind words helped to keep me going even when things got tough. She had countless suggestions to help me manage labor pains, as my desire was for a natural birth. “Karen magically appeared in my life the week before I was due to give birth with my second child. My original doula needed to be quarantined suddenly and so Karen was asked if she could step in. From our first texts and only one phone call before I ended up having her at my birth, it was clear what a kind and considerate person she is. I wasn't sure how much I was going to need her, because at my first birth, I felt like I barely used or needed my doula, but I was sure I wanted someone there besides my husband.... just in case!

That was fun to do together! Her knowledge, ability and presence to bring new life into this world was irreplaceable. This is my first time using a doula, and this was my third child. I wish I had had a doula for my first delivery. She complimented my husband and the medical team in their roles. My husband was exhausted so he was glad to have her there. I had a vaginal delivery after c section. It couldn’t have gone smoother. Even though I’m a nurse practitioner, I wouldn’t have known all the positioning and ways to distract from pain without Cindy being there. Even before pregnancy, my husband and I understood that labor and delivery usually do not go as planned. As a result, during both pregnancies, we decided to avoid formal planning and instead focus our energy on how we could embrace every step as it unfolded. What mattered most to us - in addition to ensuring a healthy arrival for our second son was feeling supported, educated and empowered in our decision-making. We wanted someone in the room who understood us, respected our opinions and could be our trusted navigator at every juncture. Wendy was that person for us and so much more.

We met with Wendy for two pre natal visits and were immedidatley struck by her genuine desire to connect with us not only as expecting parents, but also as individuals. Both visits exceeded our expectations, in terms of time spent and the breadth of topics discussed. While we had also used a birth doula for our first son and felt somewhat knowledable about the labor process, Wendy brought new insight and ideas on what this experience could look like. Reflecting back, I was so grateful at how well she helped me articulate my concerns aobut the baby’s estimated size and its implications for labor and a potential c section. By guiding my through our birth references step by step, she addressed each concern and provided reassurance and clarity regaring the decisions we would face and the support she would offer at each juncture.
During the early stages of labor, Wendy showcased her creative solutions, suggesting ways to keep labor progressing without pain management. Throughout the night, I moved in between various positions with her guidance- from the hallway to the birthing ball to the bathroom. We were so fortunate to have an incredible team of nurses too which meant that Wendy could simultaneously dedicate energy to my husband providing encouragement and direction througout the process. When I was considering an epidural, (and ultmately decided to get one) Wendy gave me the space to reflect and decide what I truly wanted. Every step of the way, I felt wholeheartely respected in my decision making.

Now as we look back 7 weeks later on this second incredible and transformative experience, there is nothing we would have changed. We are deeply grateful to Wendy for her exceptional support, not to mention the beautiful photographic documentation she providerd as we bacame a family of four.
