Postpartum Doula
I became a postpartum doula because I have a passion for parents and babies to have the happiest, smoothest experience of growing their family possible. In my experience, not every transition in a growing family is easy or comfortable and I long to see moms and babies in their fourth trimester have the best, healing and calm period they can have.
My journey in caring for people started long before I was a mother myself. Since I was a child, I loved serving in childcare in local churches nurseries- from babies to kiddos. I have also babysat my fair share of children over the years.
My interest in doulas began when I was pregnant with my first baby. I wanted to hire a birth doula, but it fell to the wayside and my birth unfolded in a way that I had been hoping against. My second and third labors and births were, in my eyes, much better. I’d love to share more about those experiences with you sometime!
One of the things consistent with my three experiences was the postpartum period, the fourth trimester. After all three babies, I had a difficult experience for varying reasons. I needed more support! Finally, after my third baby, I was able to hire a postpartum doula. Even those few hours she came were so amazingly helpful; I can’t imagine having those few weeks without a doula, even if only a few hours a few times a week.
During my third pregnancy, I really started to think, I’d love to be a doula one day.” That postpartum period really confirmed it for me . Fast forward a few years and I am ready! I would love to see all parents and babies to have an extra set of hands during that tender postpartum period. My heart is for babies and their parents.
