I became a doula in 1994, the first DONA International Certified Doula in the Syracuse Community. Loving the work, and passionate to serve as many families as possible, I was hopeful there would be more to follow….more doulas, serving more families.

It has been my sincere honor to have worked with a wide diversity of women and couples of all ages, having attended over 200 births with compassionate nurturing, blended with a background of rich experience and knowledge.

In addition to my work as a birth and postpartum doula and childbirth educator, I am also a DONA-certified doula trainer, having trained hundreds of women to become Doulas throughout the United States. Additionally, I have worked in a specialty pediatrics clinic since 1982.

And my greatest role of all, I am blessed to be the mother of Addison Kimberly!!!

In December 2011, my role with Doulas of Central New York will come to an end, to allow me to focus on training, consulting, and mentoring of new doulas in this community and others, along with additional new ventures in childbirth advocacy, with special interest in working with families who have experienced fertility issues, perinatal loss, and supporting families born through surrogacy or adoption.
